Is it ever acceptable to vandalize art? This paper explores different kinds of vandalism, arguing that while mere vandalism is never permissible, other forms of vandalism might be. The paper distinguishes mere vandalism from replacement vandalism (vandalism whose destruction leaves new art in its place) and additive vandalism (vandalism that makes new art out of already existing art). I then argue that at least sometimes, we appreciate replacement vandalism and additive vandalism.
